Karl Hale, engineering VP, said, "While
StarCell is an important development for the acceptance and use of fuel
cells, it is especially important for the direct hydrogen-powered engines
rapidly being developed. For example, when you consider that an average
car driving 11,000 miles per year uses about 109 cubic feet of hydrogen
per day, the StarCell unit we just showed our shareholders, at 30 cubic
feet per minute, can supply enough hydrogen to fuel about 400 cars each
and every day."
Hale also said, "StarCell is a patented
filtration system that extracts hydrogen from Plasma Converted Gas (PCG)(TM),
a valuable synthesis gas mixture produced by Startech's Plasma Converter
(TM) when it is processing many wastes. PCG contains a lot of hydrogen.
StarCell, when used with a Plasma Converter, provides for the production
of low-cost hydrogen from garbage. A pound of garbage will produce about
seven cubic feet of hydrogen."
Startech is an evironmental equipment company
whose Plasma Converter (TM) (PWC) safely processes and converts hazardous
and non-hazardous wastes made up of organic and inorganic solids, gases,
aqueous, and non-aqueous liquids by its proprietary method of molecular
dissociation and closed-loop elemental recycling. The PWC converts most
hazardous and non-hazardous wastes into useful commodity products.
