The National Renewable Energy Laboratory
in Golden, Colorado states, "The vision is staggering: a society powered
almost entirely by hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe
. . . The overall goal of DOE’s hydrogen program is to replace two to four
quads of conventional energy with hydrogen by the year 2010 and replace
ten quads per year by 2030. A quad is the amount of energy consumed by
one million households."
Nevertheless, there are few government
incentives to progress the hydrogen economy. Hydrogen Now! aims to educate
the public to demand hydrogen and accelerate the pace of governmental support.
Several governments, outside of the U.S.,
such as Iceland, Japan, Germany, and Canada, have made strong commitments
to developing the hydrogen economy for their countries.
Watch our “What’s Available?” section
to learn of specific governmental support around the world.
